CHINA - TEACHERS AND STUDENTS ON STRIKE

More than a thousand teachers and students at one private university in the city of Quanzhou, Fujian Province, went on strike from 16 to 19 March in protest against the exploitation of teachers.

Student Chen from the private Yang’en university said that the university administration does not care about the teachers, and everything is decided by the Council of the University. Therefore, all decisions are made in its favour to the detriment of teachers and the university. Teachers are often delayed salaries, the equipment is not updated for the students, although tuition fees are constantly rising.

The university administration has not extended the teachers contracts whose terms of contracts came to an end. Therefore, on March 16, many teachers went on strike in front of the administration building. Later, after learning about it, they were joined by students in solidarity.

22 March – Russia

MOTORISTS OF RUSSIA HAVE SPOKEN OUT AGAINST HIGH FUEL PRICES

22.03.2011 15:40
On March 20, at the initiative of the Federation of car owners of Russia (FAR), an All-Russia protest action took place, which was attended by car drivers of nearly 30 cities across the country. Thousands of motorists across the country again took to the streets to demand lower fuel prices, and abolishing of the road tax system. Motorists demanded a change in fuel pricing and the abolishing of the vehicle tax tied to engine size, and a reduction of the excessive profits of oil companies together with a reduction of fuel duty directly affecting the price level at the pumps

Another important demand made, was the complete abolition of the excise tax on petrol and diesel fuel, like it is for socially important goods.

"Petrol and diesel fuels are not luxuries, not like tobacco or alcohol. This is a crucial resource in modern economy. To impose an excise duty on it, is to deliberately inflate the prices for all manufactured products and reduce the rate of economic development of the country” - believe motorists.

The action took place in various forms in nearly 30 cities across the country. In particular, in Krasnoyarsk, at a picket, more than 300 people gathered. Distinctly, at that this time local MPs took part in the action, who are not afraid to talk about the problem with the residents, promising to continue the dialogue in the workplace and beyond. Among the picketers were autoclubs, Association of truckers, departments of of political parties.

At Miasse, the event held was also in the form of a picket. According to the organizers, the rally was the largest of the four previously held protests in the city. Signatures for an appeal in the region have been planned for collection over the next few weeks. It is possible that in April, a rally in support of the demands of the protestors will be organized.

About 300 people attended a rally at a square near the "Ulitsa 1905" tube station in Moscow. The protesters brought banners with slogans: "No to an increase in petrol prices," “We are not heard, while we remain silent," "The People's Garage is deception and blackmail." After the meeting, the FAR activists held a rolling car protest along Zubovsky boulevard to the Vorobyevy Hills. The Moscow authorities did not sanction this action, so activists expected arrests, but the convoy of 50 cars of FAR activists was accompanied by only two police cars. But it did not end without an arrest: at the rally, police detained the coordinator of the “Left Front”, Sergei Udaltsov.

In Kopeisk, a protest held in the form of flash mobs - "Refuel on your last pennies." The action took place at several gas stations, it was attended by about 10 cars.

A rolling car protest was held in St. Petersburg. The motorcade of protesters against unreasonably high prices for petrol, stretching a half mile, on several occasions was forced to make stops. The reason - increased attention to the protestors by the traffic police. The protesters wanted to refer the matter to the city authorities, but the document they took was not taken by the authorities, citing a day off.

In Ufa, a march took place under a loud chorus of empty cans. The march was attended by more than 40 people. At the end of the march a petition was organized to the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Federal Government. Further along the streets, a rolling car protest was held. The column was accompanied by a traffic police car, but only as an observer for road safety compliance. There were no incidents. About 30 cars took part in the protest.

In addition, protest action was taken in the following cities: Barnaul, Biisk, Vladivostok (in the form of informational support), Volgograd, Vologda, Vorkuta, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Kopeysk, Leningrad region, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Penza, Perm, Rostov -na-Donu, Sarov, Tyumen, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Cherepovets and Yaroslavl.

AUCPB-CLASS STRUGGLE 20th March on

COURT FINDS THE ACTIONS OF THE MAYOR OF CITY HALL ILLEGAL (NOVOSIBIRSK)

21.03.2011 10:55
On March 21, the Central District Court continued the examination of a civil case at the request of organizers of the rally on February 4, challenging the illegal actions by the mayor of Novosibirsk, for refusing to agree on the holding of protests outside the government building of Novosibirsk region.
The Court decided: to recognize the action by the Mayor as illegal and the proposal to change the venue of public event unmotivated and unreasonable.

We recall that the mayor's office of Novosibirsk city is denying the organizers of the rights of pensioners to unlimited travel, to hold protests outside Novosibirsk regional government administration building, and offering a platform at the local library instead. 6 protest actions have been held so far (December 29, January 21, February 4, February 21, March 4 and March 18). This trial is the first, and therefore revealing. For other protest actions, in court are petitions from citizens, some of them are already assigned a date for consideration.

At the previous court session of March 15, the Mayor requested the court to postpone the hearing to provide "additional evidence", but at today's meeting, such evidence was not actually presented. What was presented was "information" by the Committee for socio-political relations of the administration, which allegedly says that holding protest events outside the administration building "substantially obstructed the work of the public authorities", the reference being dated 18.04.2011, i.e., a long time has past since the date of agreement on this, (why did they take so long since December to make an official complaint? FB) and nothing in it clarifying what exactly obstructs the work of the administration. The mayor also provided information on the police in Novosibirsk (also dated from 18 March 2011.), in which it "proves" the impossibility of carrying out activities outside the administration building, allegedly because of the need to attract a large number of law enforcement officers, which in turn leads to a "reduction in solving crimes in hot pursuit"... no other "evidence" at the court session was provided by the Mayor.

Organizers of the protest action at the government administration building will intend to defend their constitutional right to freedom of assembly, meetings and processions.

The next rally will be held on April 1 at 12:00 pm: rally at the government administration building, and then march on the road (not the sidewalk) along Krasny Prospect to the Lenin Square. The number of protestors to take part in it should be around 2000 people.

The struggle continues! We will not give up!

SERBIAN WORKERS HOLD A RALLY OF SOLIDARITY WITH OUR RUSSIAN COLLEAGUES

20.03.2011 10:11
On March 15, factory workers at "Yura Corporation in Racha (Serbia) and Sloga union activists, held a protest in front of the Embassy of South Korea in Belgrade. They demanded the reinstatement of six employees dismissed for union activity, and expressed solidarity with unionized workers at "Yura Corporation" in Ivangorod (Kingisepp district of Leningrad region), who are also under severe pressure from the employer.

We recall that on March 6, in Kingisepp a picket took place against the anti-union policy "Yura corporation” in Russia and Serbia, organized by the Inter-regional trade union of automobile industry workers (MPRA). Several dozen workers armed with whistles and megaphones, appealed to the Ambassador of South Korea and the state authorities of Serbia with the demand to curb the South Korean investor, grossly violating national and international legislation.

"At the “Yura plant" what is going on is a monstrous humiliation of workers - citizens of Serbia: the physical, psychological, and sexual - says Zeljko Veselinovic, chairman of the trade union Sloga. - The Labour Inspectorate ordered the return to work of our colleagues, but the leadership of "Yura" refuses to implement this decision."

"They do not accept the decision, on which we must return to work, and violates the laws of the Republic of Serbia, which for them – mean nothing," - said Maria Ilic, deputy chairman of the Sloga union at the "Yura”.

Meanwhile, the sympathies of the local authorities are clearly on the side of the employer. Thus, Mayor of Racha, Dragan Zhivanovich refuses to communicate with the media. In a brief telephone conversation with reporters, TV B92, she said she did not believe the workers of "Yura", and accused journalists of bias: "I spoke with the director Lucas-nam, and he assured me that “Yura" is in compliance with all laws and regulations." The management at "Yura" also refuses to comment on it.

Chairperson of the primary organisation of MPRA at "Yura Corporation RUS” in Ivangorod, Russia, Victor Makhno said that their union strongly supports the struggle of the Serb colleagues:" We protest against the illegal actions of "Yura" against the outbreak of psychological terror against workers who have used their legal right to organize into unions. We support the struggle of our sister union and believe in the victory of law, justice and truth, which is on our side. We are together to do one thing - fight for the interests and rights of workers. "

On 17 March, by the Ministry of Education and Science a protest of students and teachers at the VZFEI was held. Students and teachers at VZFEI (All-Russian Correspondence Financial and Economic Institute) opposed the accession of the Institute to the Financial University of the Russian Government and demanded the holding of free and democratic elections to appoint a new rector of the university. A NEW PROTEST AGAINST THE ABOLITION OF UNLIMITED TRAVEL - PEOPLE MARCH TO TOLOKONSKY FOR AN ANSWER.

On 18 March, in Novosibirsk there was another, already the fifth, protest action for the reinstatement of unlimited travel on public transport for pensioners, organized by the committee, "Pensioners - for a decent life" and the movement "Youth - for veterans' rights!" The AUCPB, Trudovovaya Rossiya and other leftist organisations took active participation in it. We recall that governor Yurchenko in the New Year introduced a limit of 30 free trips per month on public transport for per "benefit recipients". This limitation is grossly violating the rights and interests of pensioners, has caused outrage and outcry from both the victims and other residents of Novosibirsk. The action took place like last time (March 4), in the form of a rally outside the regional government building and then marched to Tolokonsky, Presidential Representative in the Siberian Federal District, and was, according to a tradition, not sanctioned by the mayor, who has steadfastly refused to agree to have rallies held outside the government building, proposing instead, a standard septic tank - a deserted area next to the local science library and an even more deserted route for the march down Kirov street of. But protesters want to express their position not in the air, but to the governor himself, and therefore hold their rallies is the administration area and during working hours. Moreover, the movement is to get bigger, therefore the last time, besides the rally under the windows of the governor, the people marched on the sidewalk of the Krasny Prospect to the building of the presidential representative, where they presented their demands to the presidential envoy, former governor of the Novosibirsk, Mr Tolokonsky. The aim of this march was to demand from Tolokonsky an answer and ask about the fulfilling of his promises.

AUCPB PICKET IN THE VILLAGE OF SEVERSK (KRASNODAR TERRITORY)

16.03.2011 11:59
On March 13 this year, activists of the AUCPB of Seversky District, in the village of Seversk held a picket near the entrance to the Pushkin park. The purpose of the picket was to express the opinion of participants of a public event on social and political issues, one of which was - the results of the policies of Gorbachev's perestroika.

The date was not chosen by chance. On March 13, 1988 in the newspaper "Soviet Russia" was featured an article N.A. Andreeva, "I cannot give up principles," which laid the foundation for the revival of Bolshevism.

At the picket, along with symbols of the AUCPB, an agitation and political stand was set up, with an appeal to district residents to rise up to fight for their social, economic and political rights, with demands to the government to stop the rise in fuel prices, electricity, land, etc., and to reduce prices for medicines, food and essential goods. Bolshevik newspapers “Workers' and Peasants' Hammer and Sickle ", " Workers and Peasants' Truth ", Youth newspaper of the VMGB "Revolution" were distributed at the picket along with fliers to mark the political event of the day and the aim of picket.

Passers by supported us, saying that such pickets should be organized and to work more with people. Yes, we must rise to the protest.

Mass student protests in California (USA)

15.03.2011 19:28
In Sacramento, the students took to the streets to protest against the reduction of financial support for education. The initiative of the new California governor Jerry Brown, suggests that the University of California and California State University will shortfall from the budget of $ 500 million. The rally took place against the backdrop of a wave of protests against the bill to limit the rights of trade unions.

Governor Jerry Brown decided to cut funding for virtually all spheres of life of the state - from health programs to maintaining public parks. As a result of the reform, a lot of young people can not afford university tuition.

Currently in the U.S., people are also protesting against the law to restrict the rights of trade unions. People are angry that, if the bill is passed, the unions will lose their right to negotiate with the state about the size of grants to employees.

The number of protesters in Wisconsin at the peak of anger and frustration reached 75,000 people. The example was followed by fellow residents of Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Idaho, Iowa, and New Jersey. Some commentators have called the wave of protests in the U.S. echoes of Middle Eastern syndrome.

RUSSIA – MOSCOW
ZIL workers hold pickets for the preservation of plant and salaries

15.03.2011 18:58
On March 14, employees at ZIL held an hour and a half picket at the metro station Avtozavodskaya. Under the monument of factory workers and war veterans, demands were made for the conservation of the plant and payment of two months' salary arrears. Demands were addressed to the Government of Moscow as the principal owner of the company. Representatives of the ZIL trade union and automobile and agricultural machinery workers' unions handed written demands into Moscow City Hall to Sergei Sobyanin.

The former flagship of the domestic automotive industry is experiencing hard times. The process of reform of the enterprise, launched by the Moscow government, aims to reduce the territory from 370 to 70 hectares, modernization of production and new products. ZIL has already developed and prepared for the release of new fire department and municipal vehicles, buses and armored vehicles for special forces, as well as a special model of the limousine for the Russian leadership. However, as is often the case, for the realization of the ideas there is not enough working capital.

In Kazakhstan, fourth day of striking workers of state enterprises

15.03.2011 18:56
In the southern capital of Kazahastana, Almaty, workers at public utility company "Almaty Pater Kyzmety' were on strike for already the fourth day, seeking payment of all outstanding wages. Drivers, handymen, janitors and people of other professions can not get their salary in full, although the company is public and is under the control of the Almaty akimat.

One hundred and fifty drivers of bulldozers, dump trucks and snow equipment, and about four hundred highway maintenance workers refused to start work, since for a second month, they can not get salaries, which they had been promised when they started the job. "We should receive 80-90 thousand tenge, and we get is twenty thousand, which in Almaty to feed ones family is impossible. What do we do? How to live? And when we were taken on the job, we were promised all the benefits, bonuses, advances, social benefits. We believed them, as the company is state owned and not a private office. In the end we were not even given copies of our employment contracts! We are now on strike and will stand up to the end until our demands are met, "- said the bulldozer driver on behalf of the Kanat.

Journalists of independent media and “Zhanartu” activists, who conducted outreach on the need for enterprises to form their own union cells, came along to the enterprise. If in the near future wages will not be paid, then workers together with the activists of "Kazakhstan 2012" and socialists will plan to take the protest to the office of the company and the Almaty akimat.

FASCIZATION OF THE REGIME IN ACTION

In the Russian city Novosibirsk, for a few months there has been a confrontation between the government and pensioners, picketing the regional government headquarters demanding the lifting by the governor, of his decision to deprive the pensioners of the right to move freely around the city by public transport. 6 MARCH – UKRAINE - MUCHACHEVO

TOTAL INDIFFERENCE TO PEOPLE

06.03.2011 06:04
All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks
Statement by the Mukachevo organization of the AUCPB
Recently, deputies of the Mukachevo city council decided to eliminate the central heating in the city.

Many thousands of families living in apartment buildings, are to be left to their own devices for the next winter to sort out their own heating arrangements in their apartments. And this is called the "European choice", as is constantly being repeated by our statesmen. According to the mayor of Mukachevo, Z.Z. Lendyel, throughout the civilized world, central heating is used (from an interview with local television 2.11), but in Mukachevo, the City Council can not afford it.

People who receive salaries and pensions, on average, about a thousand UAH, simply do not have the money funds to install their central heating system, which costs for a two-bedroom apartment not less than 10 thousand UAH. It is clear that the adoption of the Resolution by the City Council, will raise the cost of installing individual heating systems sharply.

With the rapid growth in food prices and tariffs for housing services, the working people will simply be deprived of their livelihood. And then there's city council’s expressed "concern" for the inhabitants of the city, thus showing that the local authorities (as well as central authorities, Kiev) is so far from the people that it is absolutely indifferent to the needs and aspirations of ordinary people who no longer live like human beings, but are struggling for survival and existence.

In Soviet Ukraine under the USSR, Mukachevites were always, day and night supplied with cold and hot water, heat in the apartments, and the price of one kilowatt of electricity was 4 kopecks and for a for two-bedroom apartment, rents (which were the lowest in the world), together with payment for all public utilities did not exceed 20-30 rubles per month.

Events in Tunisia and Egypt have shown that people’s patience will sooner or later end, and then the rulers will not be saved neither by the police nor the army.
Dear Mukachevites!
How much more we will need to suffer humiliation at the hands of the authorities (from the central one to local one).
Is it time to begin to act as in Tunisia and Egypt?!
February 12, 2011 , the Mukachevo

5 MARCH – RUSSIA- VOLKOV

THREE THOUSAND RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF VOLKHOV COME OUT TO PROTEST AGAINST IMPENDING MASS JOB LAYOFFS

05.03.2011 05:49

On March 2, nearly three thousand residents of the city of Volkhov in Russia came out to protest against impending mass layoffs at the city-forming enterprise Metakhim. Last week, notice of possible layoff were handed to 1400 employees of the enterprise. The total number of staff at of Metakhim and its "daughter" company Pikalyovsky soda is 2500 people. Workers at Metakhim were supported by city residents, labour organizations (including Mining and Metallurgical Union), as well as representatives of the factories in Pikalevo and Boksitogorsk.

Employees fear losing the only source of income, as there is no other work in the city. And dormitory residents - mostly young families are even at risk of losing their housing.

The situation in the city-forming enterprise Metakhim in Volkhov escalated in mid-January, as a supplier of basic raw materials - Apatit (FosAgro ") was not signed to a long-term contract for 2011. Since the beginning of the year, the Volkhov plant has operated at 50% capacity and was forced to buy raw materials at inflated prices. The company Metakhim state that if the March 15 issue of the contract for the supply of raw materials is not resolved, on May 15 the company will lay off about 1,400 workers.

The absurdity of the situation is that it was created completely artificially – as up until now, the still Volkhovsky Metakhim plant was an economically sound enterprise - say workers.

The city authorities and Volkhov district authorities sent a letter to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to help resolve this situation, and after that, the governor of Leningrad region Valery Serdyukov appealed to the leadership of FAS Russia and the Russian Industry and Trade.

DONETSK MINERS THREATEN TO FLOOD THEIR HOME TOWN
05.03.2011 05:42
Employees of the mine-water-tower "Red October" in Enakievo, Donetsk region of Ukraine threatened to stop work and "flood" the city if they were not paid.

It has been reported by TSN, citing the press service of the Central Committee of the Miners Union of the Coal Industry of Ukraine.

"People are outraged to the limit. How far can you test their patience! Last summer, just a threat to stop the dewatering units forced the Ministry of Coal to remember us and pay four months in salary arrears, and now again the same situation, "- says the chairman of the trade union of the mine.

According to the miners who have not received salaries since the beginning of 2011, the management told them that "there is no money, and not to bother to even wait for it."

"If the water draining complex stops working, water will flood areas in which homes are located, and threaten flooding of existing mines. And then the problem of one state-owned enterprise will become an ecological disaster of urban scale, where people may suffer"- notes the report of the Central Committee of the miners' union.

RUSSIAN PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE COLLECTING DATA ON STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN PROTEST RALLIES
Adminstration at the St. Petersburg State University (SPSU) and city prosecutor's office are checking students at the university in terms of their relationship to informal organizations and participation in protest actions, reports the Russian Students' Union, which considers this check illegal and should stop it. "We believe that the prosecutor of St. Petersburg and the administration of St. Petersburg State University violated students' rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation (Chapter 1, Part 1, Article 24) and the Federal Law" On Personal Data "(Clause 1, Article 7 , Chapter 2). They say that any use and dissemination of information about the private life of a person without his or her consent is not permitted ", - says the statement by the Russian Student Union.
The Union requests that the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Education and Science clarify the validity of such data collection.
The scandal arose after the college students were ordered to urgently provide data on their participation in social movements and street protest events. A memo was circulated by the rector in St. Petersburg State University for academic affairs Nicholas Kaledin. In it he asked for information "about students who consider themselves associated to informal youth associations which are extremist and subject to administrative liability for participation in uncoordinated public events", referring to the request by the prosecutor of St. Petersburg.

MARCH 02 -RUSSIA
MORE THAN A THOUSAND WORKERS AT TUSHINO ENGINEERING PLANT COULD END UP ON THE STREETS

02.03.2011 17:51
At the Tushino engineering plant, which occupies a huge territory in the Northwest District, an indefinite work stoppage has begun. Meanwhile, the products continue to be used every day – as they are the numerous trolley buses and buses around the city. Employees are assured: the owners are trying to bankrupt the plant in order to grab up land.

According to the company's employees, the problems began in late October 2010, when TMZ had a new CEO. The new management dismissed the personnel department entirely, along with the technical and occupational safety and innovation department. And the department for labour and wages has been significantly reduced.

After that, all the work at the plant stopped, and 1,150 employees have started getting two-thirds of their salary, with a stoppage without the workers consent, anf unfortunately attempts of workers to learn something about the future of their factory's leadership comes to nothing. At the same time the enterprise has formed a loss of 300 million rubles, although before that it worked at a profit.

On February 17, employees at Tushino engineering plant held a picket to draw attention to the issues. For two hours in a nearly 20-degree frost, people stood with placards in front of the House of Culture "Salute", which at that time was scheduled an extraordinary meeting of shareholders. About 70 employees n support of the picketers arrived, together with representatives of trade unions of ZIL and the Steel Works "Hammer and Sickle."

What to expect in the future, factory workers have no idea, but they are preparing for the worst. Total factory area is f 60 hectares. This area is a tasty morsel for many. At the plant, workers understand that the owners may try to destroy the plant to gain land.

In light of these events, it looks suspicious the "unexpected" stealing of four 5-ton press molds for the manufacture of railway crossings. Unknown persons have taken expensive equipment from the plant at night without meeting any resistance from security.

Each mold costs about 800 thousand rubles, says chairman of the Moscow city branch of the trade union of workers of the aviation industry Sergei Chugunkov - without them we can not make our products. In general, the plant has great potential. Firstly, we have the technology of mechanically recycling old tires. With its help, TMZ does not build only level crossing, but also speed humps. Secondly, the company has enough modern equipment. We had help from the city council for that.

At this meeting also arrived the chairman of the Kuban Union of Soviet officers from Krasnodar - Major-General AI Topchii. He came not only to support the protest, but to carry on propaganda work for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) policy on the issue of a "people’s" referendum. The referendum is held from 1 February to 30 September 2011. The Major-General, speaking at the rally, told the audience that the holding of a referendum is a peaceful struggle the aim of which is to change course of the country, remove Putin, and restore socialism and Soviet power. Maj. Gen. was cunning at the rally. In the Krasnodar website of the CPRF an article on the events of 23 Feb. a statement published by the Secretary of the Regional Committee of the CPRF I.O. Osadchy quotes: "... To change the government and the country’s course, a struggle is needed. One of the ways is the election of deputies into the State Duma. Preparation of this will be a campaigned for a People's referendum ...". As they say, no comment. Speeches by Party members and activists at the rally in Krimsk were fair and of the AUCPB, and that all our troubles and suffering comes only from the capitalist system and private ownership of the means of production. Therefore, whoever is replaced by way of elections in the bourgeois regime, no matter what referendums are conducted, it will not become easier for us, but will still worsen. All of us together need to prepare for a revolution, a change of regime, capitalism to socialism. And not through elections but through the organization of a socialist revolution. Only then can we return to the Soviet power, socialism, and save ourselves. At this event, AUCPB newspapers SiM, RKP, and Revolution, together with Bolshevik leaflets, the program of the AUCPB and calendars with a portrait J.V. Stalin were distributed

The protest action was calm enough, the workers expressed their discontent, but mostly in front of cameras, the rest were standing peacefully with placards. It is worth noting that the management of "Uzhuralkonditer" did not meet with the protesters. .According to rumors, the candy factory is owned by one of the major banks, and its assets by the wife of former Mayor Luzhkov of Moscow, Yelena Baturina.

"The main demand – is the indexation of wages for the last four years and payment of compensation, - says Galina Kurbatov. As the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Chelyabinsk region reports, the last time the confectioners salary increased was in 2007.
